Text Box:  AMVETS Eligibility 
To be eligible for membership in AMVETS, you must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, anytime after Sept. 15, 1940. Additionally, unless still serving, your discharge must have been under honorable conditions. If you served as an American citizen in the armed forces of an allied nation, under honorable conditions, between Sept. 15, 1940 and May 8, 1975, you are also eligible, as are wartime members of the Merchant Marine. Proof of eligibility can take the form of a DD-214, an honorable discharge certificate or other appropriate document. Annual dues are $30.00. Life member dues are $180.00. These dues fund, in part, the programs, services and representation AMVETS provides.

Ladies Auxiliary Eligibility

Eligibility for membership in the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary shall be limited to the mothers, wives, grandmothers, regardless of age, and to the daughters, stepdaughters, sisters and granddaughters, not less than 18 years of age, of regular members of AMVETS; and to the mothers and widows, regardless of age, and to the daughters, sisters and granddaughters, not less than 18 years of age, of deceased veterans who would have been eligible for membership in AMVETS, and female veterans who served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States after September 15, 1940, or as an American Citizen in the Armed Forces of Allied countries after September 15, 1940, and before May 8, 1975, who maintain their AMVET membership unless they meet the established eligibility criteria.  The term mother shall be construed to include any female member of the family, or any female guardian of such person or deceased veteran, who has exercised or is exercising the care and responsibility for the rearing of such person or deceased veteran. The term daughter for a stepdaughter must have been a dependent of an AMVET or deceased veteran prior to attaining 18 years of age.

Son’s of AMVETS Eligibility

Eligibility for membership in Sons of AMVETS shall be limited to all male descendants, grandsons, adopted sons, and stepsons, fathers, husbands, widowers and brothers of members of AMVETS and deceased members of AMVETS, or service personnel who died and would have been eligible for membership in the parent AMVETS organization, and are at least (18) years of age and are not eligible for membership in the parent organization. This is not to include in-laws of any type.

You must be a member in good standing of the AMVETS, Ladies’ Auxiliary or the Son’s of AMVETS to be eligible for membership in the Rider’s.
